Sept. 10-11, 2011 Metropolis, IL & Paducah, KY - The National Quilt Museum of the United States and Metropolis Tourism are proud to combine forces for the third annual Super City - Quilt City Connection - A Celebration of the Arts between Two Cities. Quilt shows by local guilds combine with guided museum tours, class instruction and demonstrations for an event of super measure in Metropolis and Paducah.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Massac Quilters Guild Quilt Show at Harrah's Riverfront Event Center in Metropolis. $2 donation. Receive free souvenir button. Vote for your favorites. Show also features the Pilgrim/Roy Challenge Quilts exhibit and Quilting & Artist Vendor Fair. There will be hourly demonstrations and chances to win door prizes.
Fat Quarter Frenzy! Bring 1 Fat Quarter for A Chance to Win Them All!
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. National Quilt Museum Quilt Exhibits: Regular Admission. The Chicago School of Fusing, with guest artist Susan Else. Fusing as a technique has been refined by Frieda Anderson, Anne Lullie, Emily Parson, Judy Perez, Jane Sassaman, and Laura Wasilowski. This exhibit showcases their vibrant quilts. Joined by the 3-D work of guest artist Susan Else. In Search of Balance – curated by Jerry Roy. This exhibit explores how quiltmakers of the past balanced form, color, and line in their quilts, whether consciously or unconsciously. You decide. ![]() 1 p.m. - National Quilt Museum Gallery Tour - Free guided tour with paid admission.
1-3 p.m. Quilter's Tea
2:30-3:30 p.m. – Color Theory Lecture at The National Quilt Museum. You will be able to confidently choose colors for any project after learning these color secrets! You will understand how to use a color wheel, determine values, understand warm vs. cool, and to make colors “Pop” or blend in. Free.

Caryl Bryer Fallert is internationally recognized for her award-winning art quilts, which have appeared in hundreds of national and international exhibitions, collections, and publications. Honors include 100 Best Quilts of the 20th Century, NQA, Masterpiece Quilt Award, and selection as one of the thirty most influential quiltmakers in the world. Caryl has lectured and taught in eleven countries around the world before opening the Bryerpatch Studio & Workshop Center in Paducah, Ky. in 2006.

Don’t have the room or expertise to finish your quilt? Bring your quilt top, batting, backing and pins, & we will pin baste it for you for $5 or ½ yard of fabric. Fiber artists with quilts in the museum’s collection made and donated small quilts to raise funds for the Museum. More than 30 quilts remain available for you to add to your private collection.

Saturday - Living History at Fort Massac State Park, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. French and Indian War period living historians will present displays and interpretive programs on the 18th century life. Free.
