The city best known for its super hero connection will be the site of a comic book and toy show - Fandomfest Metropolis - on Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6. The event will be held at the Metropolis Community Center at 900 W. 10th St., Metropolis.
For the third year in a row, the show is being produced by Marc Ballard, the owner of Comic City in Nashville, Tenn. Ballard says that those who enter the doors will see a variety of vendors showcasing comics from the 1940s to present-day, vintage Star Wars toys, autographed celebrity items, Sci Fi and horror merchandise, games, t-shirts, western items and more.
Actor Jackson Bostwick, who portrayed Shazam on the CBS television series, will be among the special guests at this year’s Fadomfest. Bostwick also acted in the original Tron movie in the 1980's. A number of other celebrities and artists are also scheduled to appear. Among them are: Stephen Zimmer, a writer of Sci Fi and horror novels; Ari Lehman, Jason from Friday the 13th Part 1; and Jacob Rougemont, comic artist and writer of the Marvel Handbook.
