A magical journey through Metropolis
is sure to get you in the holiday spirit

The Metropolis Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to spend a magical afternoon in Metropolis on Sunday, Nov. 9, as local merchants ring in the holiday season with the annual Holiday Open House.  Most businesses are open from noon- 5 p.m. (some have different hours) and many offer specials, door prizes and refreshments.

Enjoy the quaint small-town atmosphere of Metropolis where businesses have become famous for personalized service.  As you drive into Metropolis on U.S. 45, you can stop by Bliss Bodyworks at 1201 E. Fifth St. and indulge in treatments for the body.   The just one block up the street you'll arrive at the Sisters Shoppe at 1105 E. Fifth St.  There you will find a shop full of holiday decorations as well as gifts for home, garden, baby and more.  Just across the street you can visit 1102 Rendezvous Day Spa and Salon.  1102 offers gift certificates for hair care, massage, manicures and more.   Just remember the name, and you'll have the address, 1102 E. Fifth St. 

Then travel up the street to 905 E. Fifth St. to visit Dress It Up.  You'll enjoy shopping for the latest trends in women's fashions, including purses, jewelry and lots of other accessories.  Super Tan/Owen Cleaners will also be open on this special day at 704 E. Fifth.  You'll sparkle even more in your holiday dress when you take advantage of the tanning packages available there.   As you continue up Fifth St. you won't want to miss the unique jewelry and personalized gifts available for all ages at Silver Collections.  You'll find it on the corner at 215 E. Fifth. 

As you head to the uptown business district, you'll want to make stops at two unique florists.   Bittersweet Florist is a brand new business located at 319 Ferry St.  There you will find holiday wreaths, ornaments, floral arrangements and home furnishings.  Creations the Florist, located at 600 Ferry St., will also welcome visitors and will be decorated floor to ceiling with festive floral arrangements and lots of gift ideas. 

Once you arrive at the Market Street area you can park and visit several stores all within walking distance.  And, you can take a break and enjoy a home-cooked meal for lunch at Farley's Cafeteria, 613 Market St.  The famous eatery will be open from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on this Sunday only. 

Jenny's is located at 119 W. Sixth St. and showcases a unique collection of home décor and consignment furniture.  Also on Sixth is Back of the Closet.  It is located at 205 ½ W. Sixth and featuresa  large selection of quality consignment fashions and accessories.

Along Market Street you'll find Cherished Impressions, The Skin Shop, Lillie's Hallmark, Twice as Nice,  and the Chamber of Commerce.    Cherished Impressions will impress you with collectables and fine gift ware at 606 Market St.  You can pamper yourself or a special friend with services from The Skin Shop at 604 Market St.  For ornaments and holiday gifts, you'll find a great collection at Lillie's Hallmark at 606 Market St.  Twice as Nice is a brand name fashion exchange consignment shop and is located next to Farley's at 615 Market. 

And a trip to Metropolis would not be complete without a "super" gift purchase.  Visit the Massac County Chamber of Commerce at 607 Market for Superman shirts, caps and lots of unique items.
