Dec. 4:  Metropolis Christmas Parade.  Parade starts at 1:30 p.m. at Washington Park and travels to uptown Market Street area.

Dec. 4.   Southern Illinois Spinners and Weavers Guild demonstrating crafts at Fort Massac State Park.  10 a.m.-3 p.m. Free.

Dec. 5:  Massac County Historical Society Tour of Homes hosts an annual afternoon tour of unique and historical homes.  Admisson.  For information, call 618-524-8297.

TBA:  Book your hotel room in Metropolis - then drive along the Southern Illinois Wine Trail and enjoy their Holiday Open Houses.  The trail features six wineries:  Bella Terra, Cache River, Flint Hill, Hogg Hollow, Shawnee and Windy Hill.

Dec. 11:  Garrison for the Massiac Marines, 10am-4pm at Fort Massac State Park.  The French and Indian War period living historians will  celebrate "Joyeux Noel" with a feast of traditional dishes.  The decorating will begin for the following day's Old Tyme Christmas.   Free.

Dec. 12:  Olde Tyme Christmas at Fort Massac State Park.  Re-enactors showcase the Christmas traditions of the French Colonial, American Revolutionary, Lewis and Clark, War of 1812 and Civil War periods in the fort. Massiac Marines will show how a traditional Christmas night might have been for the French soldiers and villagers in 1759.  Live music will be performed and refreshments served inside the museum. 1-4 p.m.  Free.

Dec. 31:  Harrah's Metropolis Casino New Year's Eve Celebration.  Harrah's is the "happenin' place" for lots of fun and entertainment each New Year's Eve.  Watch for more details to be posted soon.
